Cardiology care for Hermosa Beach and the South Bay coast
If your watch flagged an irregular rhythm on a Strand run, if chest tightness has been showing up during a Hermosa CrossFit session, or if your internist on Pier Avenue mentioned your stress test wasn’t quite clean — our Beverly Hills office is the closest CACVI location, about 30 minutes north on the 405.
Hermosa Beach skews active, athletic, and a little younger than the South Bay average — cyclists, surfers, runners, and a fair number of fit 40- and 50-somethings who land in cardiology after a watch alert or a primary-care lipid panel they weren’t expecting. Dr. Mehran J. Khorsandi and Dr. Moinakhtar Lala have more than thirty years of combined cardiac and vascular practice and 15,000-plus procedures between them. The visit format matters here: one doctor in the room, no rotating fellows, imaging read on screen with you, and a plan in writing before you leave for the 405 south.
Find out the cause of your heart condition.
Most Hermosa Beach patients we see fall into one of three buckets: athletes with a watch-flagged arrhythmia, mid-life professionals working out at Pier Plaza or Manhattan Beach Studios who want a baseline before symptoms appear, and longtime residents with a family history that’s starting to surface. Our team can perform a cardiac evaluation — physical exam, EKG, echocardiogram, exercise stress test — in a single visit at our Beverly Hills office, about 30 minutes from Hermosa via the 405 north. For Hermosa patients we hold early-morning slots so you’re back at the beach before the afternoon onshore breeze picks up.
Hermosa Beach Cardiac Specialists
Both cardiologists are board-certified and fellowship-trained, with published research in the journals their academic peers cite. For our Hermosa Beach patients the meaningful difference is access — one cardiologist in the room for the whole visit, time to talk through every image, and a written summary back to your Pier Avenue internist or Beach Cities Health District provider the same day.
Be prepared.
Providence Little Company of Mary in Torrance is the closest full-service cardiac ER for most Hermosa Beach residents, and Torrance Memorial Medical Center is right next door. Both handle acute chest pain well. Neither has the outpatient cardiology follow-up bandwidth that keeps you out of the ER the next time. If you were discharged from either with a “follow up with cardiology” note, that’s exactly the appointment type we hold time for. Hermosa households should also know how to use an AED — sudden cardiac arrest survival drops about 10% per minute before defibrillation, and the Strand walk-streets can slow paramedic access from PCH.
The first visit for a Hermosa Beach patient generally runs 60 to 90 minutes. We start with the history — family events, current medications, training load, what symptoms show up at what intensity — then move to the physical exam, EKG, and an echocardiogram if it’s indicated. If you have recent imaging at Torrance Memorial or Providence, bring the disc or send a release ahead of time. The Beverly Hills office is at 8741 Alden Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90048; from Hermosa, the 405 north to Wilshire is the cleanest route — about 30 minutes outside peak hours.

Trust Your Heart to Our Expert Care
Hermosa Beach’s adult population skews healthier than the LA County average on most risk factors — lower smoking rates, lower obesity, higher exercise frequency. The risk picture we see in our Hermosa patients is different: occult coronary disease in fit athletes, watch-detected arrhythmias that turn out to be benign more often than not, and inherited cholesterol disorders that don’t show up until a calcium score. Most of those are easier to manage with early evaluation than to chase after a symptom forces the issue.
High blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and smoking are key risk factors for heart disease. About half of Americans (47%) have at least one of these three risk factors.
