Need a Trusted Cardiologist to Help You Take Control of Your Heart Health?

Looking for a cardiologist near Long Beach?

Chest tightness when you walk the bluff trail at El Dorado Park? A new flutter you can feel after a long shift down at the port? Pacemaker or defibrillator already in place, and the battery check is due? These are the calls we take from Long Beach every week, and we’re set up to help.

Heart trouble disrupts more than one person. It pulls in spouses, adult children, and the routines a family has built over decades in places like Bixby Knolls, Belmont Shore, and North Long Beach. At the Center for Advanced Cardiac and Vascular Interventions, our Long Beach cardiologists bring thirty-plus years of experience and more than 15,000 vascular and cardiac procedures into every Long Beach consultation, and we keep the conversation plain enough that families can follow it.

Find out the cause of your heart condition.

In our Beverly Hills office (roughly forty-five minutes north on the 710 from downtown Long Beach), we perform a cardiac evaluation built around what your symptoms are actually telling us. Long Beach patients come in for the full range — coronary artery disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, recovery after a myocardial infarction (MI), arrhythmia workups including atrial fibrillation (AFib), and valve disease such as mitral valve disease and aortic valve disease. We’ll tell you what we find and what we’d do next.

Long Beach Cardiac Specialists

CACVI sees patients from every Long Beach neighborhood — Naples, Belmont Heights, California Heights, the East Side, the West Side — and from the broader South Bay that funnels into the 710. International referrals show up here too, but the bulk of our Long Beach panel is local: retired teachers, port workers and longshoremen, restaurant owners along Pine Avenue, and adult kids worried about a parent. The same physicians who treat the international cases handle the local ones, no separate track.

Be prepared.

A reminder we make to every Long Beach family: keep an AED within reach if anyone in the household has known cardiac risk. They restart a heart in ventricular fibrillation when seconds matter, and they’re now standard in many Long Beach community centers, fire stations, and the Aquarium of the Pacific.

If chest pain hits or your heartbeat goes fast and chaotic enough that you feel faint, call 911. Long Beach Memorial Medical Center on Atlantic Avenue is the closest STEMI-receiving hospital for most of the city — do not drive yourself, and don’t try to drive up to our Beverly Hills office. Call us once you’re stable so we can coordinate follow-up.

An initial CACVI visit for a Long Beach patient starts with a physical exam and a careful medical history — cardiac symptoms, what you noticed and when, family history, current medications, prior cath reports or echos from local hospitals. In-office EKG and echocardiogram are usually done the same visit. If you need labs, we’ll order them. Most Long Beach patients make the trip up the 710 once for the initial workup, then we structure follow-ups around imaging dates, medication adjustments, or procedures — whichever the workup points toward. Telehealth handles most of the in-between visits so you don’t burn a day driving each time.

Trust Your Heart to Our Expert Care

About one in three Long Beach adults carries at least one of the three big cardiac risk factors — high blood pressure, high cholesterol, or active smoking — and the long port commute, shift work at the docks, and the city’s still-significant smoking rate keep that number higher than west-side LA. CVD remains the leading cause of death in LA County, and Long Beach mirrors the county pattern. Catching it early is the part we can control.

American Heart Association

High blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and smoking are key risk factors for heart disease. About half of Americans (47%) have at least one of these three risk factors.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

Our goal at CACVI is to help you achieve healthier living. As a stepping stone to healthier living, our physicians perform a variety of tests right here in our office. Our in-office diagnostic procedures can help our physicians and you determine a course of treatment that may help you improve your health and wellness for a better quality of living.

CACVI’s experienced cardiologists are determined to provide each patient with experienced, compassionate care as they work diligently to improve your health.

  • Hospital admitting privileges — our physicians have admitting/consult privileges at major hospitals serving Long Beach, including Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
  • Direct physician contact — not a call center. Dr. Vasim Lala, MD, FACC or Dr. Moinakhtar Lala, MD, FACC, FSCAI, RPVI reviews every new Long Beach case before the appointment.
  • Insurance and LA County medical groups — we accept most major commercial plans plus Medicare.

The people who would actually treat you

A cardiologist is not a building. If you are choosing one from a search result, the question worth asking is who does the procedure and how many times they have done it. So here is ours.

Dr. Mehran Khorsandi holds five board certifications and has been performing complex cardiovascular and vascular interventions for more than thirty years. He has been on the attending staff at Cedars-Sinai since 1993 and has performed over ten thousand cardiac procedures. His particular interest is coronary bifurcation disease, the branch points where plaque is hardest to treat, and he holds fifty patents in the field.

Dr. Arshia Noori is board-certified twice over, as an interventional cardiologist and as an electrophysiologist, with more than twenty-five years in practice. He treats atrial fibrillation, tachycardia and ventricular arrhythmias with catheter ablation, and implants pacemakers and defibrillators. He belongs to the American College of Cardiology and the Heart Rhythm Society.

Dr. Saibal Kar directs structural heart disease interventions at Los Robles Health System and teaches as a Clinical Professor of Medicine at UCLA. He repairs mitral valves through a catheter. His research contributed to the development of the drug-eluting stent, and he has published more than a hundred and fifty scientific papers.

Dr. Moinakhtar Lala built the limb salvage and amputation prevention programme here, which is why patients call him the leg saver. He is board certified in general cardiology, endovascular interventions, echocardiography, nuclear cardiology and vascular ultrasound.

Dr. Vasim Lala trained at Mount Sinai in New York in coronary, vascular and structural intervention, and writes for the American College of Cardiology.

What “top cardiac centre” means when you look closely

Long Beach searches often ask which centre is best. That is a fair question and a hard one to answer honestly, because nobody publishes a league table.

What can be said plainly: the work that usually sends a patient to a larger hospital is done here. Coronary angiography and stenting, including the bifurcations and the calcified vessels other practices refer out. Catheter ablation for a rhythm that will not settle. Mitral valve repair through a catheter rather than through the chest. Limb salvage when the alternative on the table is amputation.

The diagnostic work that comes first is done in our own rooms, usually in one visit: EKG, echocardiogram, stress testing, vascular ultrasound, and a take-home monitor when the rhythm hides from a twelve-second tracing.

What we will not tell you

We do not publish a success rate for your case, because your case has not happened yet. We do not call ourselves the best cardiologists in Long Beach, because that is a claim nobody can verify and we would rather you checked ours.

You can. Every physician here is listed with their credentials, and board certification is verifiable through the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Frequently Asked Questions for Long Beach Patients

How do I schedule an appointment from Long Beach?

Call (310) 853-2222 or use our online contact form. New patient appointments are typically available within 7–14 days at our Los Angeles office — ~45 min northwest via I-710 from Long Beach.

Do you accept patients from LA County?

Yes. We routinely see patients from Long Beach and the surrounding LA County area at our Los Angeles location.

What symptoms warrant immediate evaluation?

If you experience chest pain lasting more than a few minutes, sudden shortness of breath, fainting, or stroke-like symptoms, call 911. Do not drive to our Los Angeles office serving Long Beach — the nearest emergency room for Long Beach residents is Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.

What does an initial CACVI evaluation include?

physical examination, medical history review, EKG (in-office), echocardiogram (in-office), risk stratification, and a personalized treatment plan. Additional testing is scheduled based on findings.

Are your physicians board-certified?

Yes. Dr. Moinakhtar Lala, MD, FACC, FSCAI, RPVI and our other physicians are board-certified with subspecialty training. Verify current certifications via the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Do you offer telehealth for Long Beach patients?

For follow-up visits, medication management, and test-result reviews — yes. For new patients we recommend an in-person initial evaluation at our Los Angeles office.

Who would I actually see?

That depends on the problem. A rhythm question goes to Dr. Noori, a structural valve question to Dr. Kar, a leg circulation problem to Dr. Moinakhtar Lala. For a first evaluation you see whichever physician is available soonest, and the case is routed from there.

Does CACVI treat atrial fibrillation in Long Beach patients?

Yes. Medication, monitoring, catheter ablation, and the Watchman device for patients who cannot stay on a blood thinner. Dr. Noori is a board-certified electrophysiologist.

Do I have to go to a hospital for a stent or an ablation?

The procedures are done through a catheter, usually through the wrist or the groin, in a procedure room rather than an operating theatre. Most patients go home the same day or the next morning.

How do I check a cardiologist’s credentials?

Look them up with the American Board of Internal Medicine. It is free, it takes a minute, and it is worth doing for any physician you are considering, ours included.

How far is Long Beach from your offices?

Our Los Angeles office on Alden Drive is roughly forty-five minutes up the I-710, which is the route most of our Long Beach patients take. Our physicians also hold admitting and consult privileges at Long Beach Memorial Medical Center.
