Need a Trusted Cardiologist to Help You Take Control of Your Heart Health?

Cardiologist Care for San Gabriel and the SGV Mission Corridor

San Gabriel runs from the historic mission grounds out along Valley Boulevard’s restaurant corridor, and the patients we see from here are often the second generation of a family that has been on the same street for forty years. If you have a pacemaker or defibrillator, are recovering from a heart attack, or have symptoms that come and go without explanation, get them looked at.

Heart trouble sits heaviest on the household — the wife who watches the salt, the children who fly back from up north when something happens. The team at the Center for Advanced Cardiac and Vascular Interventions has spent over thirty years and 15,000 procedures helping San Gabriel and West SGV families think through coronary, valve, and rhythm questions in plain language. Our San Gabriel cardiologists sit in Beverly Hills, about thirty minutes west on the I-10.

Find out the cause of your heart condition.

San Gabriel patients usually open with a cardiac evaluation in our Beverly Hills office. We treat coronary artery disease, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, prior heart attack, arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation, mitral valve disease and aortic valve disease. Many Chinese-American and Taiwanese-American patients in the SGV carry cardiac risk at lower body weight than U.S. guidelines flag, and we calibrate the workup accordingly.

San Gabriel Cardiac Specialists

Our San Gabriel cardiologists see patients from the mission neighborhoods, along Valley Boulevard’s restaurant row, and across into Rosemead and Temple City. Many were sent by family physicians at San Gabriel Valley Medical Center or by friends at the senior centers; just as many came after a relative was already a patient. We have treated families across three generations. The medicine has not changed; the way we explain it adapts to whoever is at the table.

Be prepared.

San Gabriel Valley Medical Center on South Santa Anita is the nearest 24-hour ER for most of the city — under ten minutes from any address. Keep the route in your phone. AED cabinets are common in the city’s churches, community halls and recreation centers, and we tell any household with a cardiac history to buy an AED for the home and walk through the steps with every adult in the house.

Chest pain right now is a 911 call. So is a heartbeat that has gone fast and chaotic. Get to San Gabriel Valley Medical Center first. Call our office once you are stable.

An initial San Gabriel visit at our Beverly Hills office runs about an hour. We do the physical, the medical and family history — paying particular attention to early heart attacks in parents or siblings — and the medication review, including any traditional preparations a family member brought back from a trip. The drive from San Gabriel is about thirty minutes west on the I-10; we schedule around the 10/110 interchange to keep the trip predictable. Blood draws happen the same visit when possible. Mandarin or Cantonese conversation can be arranged on request.

Trust Your Heart to Our Expert Care

On average, someone dies of cardiovascular disease (CVD) every 37 seconds in the U.S. There are 2,353 deaths from CVD each day, based on 2017 data.

American Heart Association

High blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and smoking are key risk factors for heart disease. About half of Americans (47%) have at least one of these three risk factors.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

San Gabriel’s Asian-American patients sit in a part of California where standard cardiovascular guidelines need a careful read. Asian-American adults often develop type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome at lower BMI thresholds than the textbook assumes, and lipid patterns can differ enough that a one-size-fits-all approach misses real risk. Our job is to read the numbers in your context — your family history, your diet at home, the medications you are actually taking — and put together a plan you can carry out without rebuilding your life. Most diagnostics happen in-office the same morning.

CACVI’s experienced cardiologists are determined to provide each patient with experienced, compassionate care as they work diligently to improve your health.
