Cardiology care for Fullerton and the CSUF community
If chest pressure showed up during a Hillcrest Park climb, if your watch flagged an irregular rhythm during a CSU Fullerton commute, or if your primary care doctor at one of the Fullerton family medicine groups told you it’s time to see a cardiologist — our LA Beverly Hills office sees cases like yours every week.
Most Fullerton patients we see at CACVI fall into three groups: working professionals in their 40s and 50s following up on a stress test their internist flagged, retirees in the Sunny Hills and Raymond Hills neighborhoods who want to keep walking without chest pressure cutting them short, and faculty from Cal State Fullerton wanting a serious second opinion on a borderline test. Dr. Mehran J. Khorsandi and Dr. Moinakhtar Lala have performed more than 15,000 cardiac and vascular procedures across thirty-plus years. They walk through the imaging with you in the room.
Find out the cause of your heart condition.
From Fullerton our LA Beverly Hills office is roughly a 40-minute drive north on the I-5, faster mid-morning. Most patients in 92831 through 92835 pick a 10 a.m. slot to dodge the worst of the freeway crawl. In a single visit we run an in-office cardiac evaluation, EKG, and echocardiogram, and review the findings before you leave. Conditions we treat regularly for Fullerton patients include coronary artery disease, heart failure, atrial fibrillation (AFib), heart attack, and mitral valve disease.
Fullerton Cardiac Specialists
For Fullerton, the practical question is which cardiology group you can actually book without a six-week wait. Our Beverly Hills office holds same-week appointments for Fullerton patients presenting with acute symptoms across 92831, 92832, 92833, and 92835. Dr. Khorsandi or Dr. Lala reads every new Fullerton chart personally before the visit, which keeps the first half-hour focused on what’s actually new.
Be prepared.
If you live in Fullerton and your heart rhythm goes wrong tonight, the closest emergency room is St. Jude Medical Center on Valencia Mesa Drive — about five to ten minutes from most of the city. That’s where 911 will take you, and you should not drive yourself. St. Jude is a STEMI-receiving center with around-the-clock interventional cardiology.
Keeping a basic AED at home, in a CSU Fullerton campus office, or in a Sunny Hills clubhouse pays for itself the one time it matters — survival from sudden cardiac arrest drops roughly 10% for every minute without defibrillation. Once you’re stable after a cardiac event, our Beverly Hills office picks up the cardiology follow-up.
A first visit at our Beverly Hills office — about 40 minutes north of Fullerton via I-5 — typically runs 60 to 90 minutes. We collect your history, the cardiac symptoms you’ve actually noticed (chest tightness on stairs, palpitations after coffee, ankle swelling by evening), family history of early MI, and your current medication list. Most Fullerton patients leave with an EKG and echocardiogram done the same day. The visit summary goes to your Fullerton primary care doctor within the week.
Protect your heart.
Trust Your Heart to Our Expert Care
On average, someone dies of cardiovascular disease (CVD) every 37 seconds in the U.S. There are 2,353 deaths from CVD each day, based on 2017 data.
High blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and smoking are key risk factors for heart disease. About half of Americans (47%) have at least one of these three risk factors.
Fullerton is more demographically mixed than its OC neighbors — a CSU Fullerton faculty-and-staff cohort in their 30s and 40s, a long-established Korean-American and Hispanic community, and a retiree pocket in Sunny Hills. Cardiac risk profiles vary by group: earlier metabolic syndrome in some, higher prevalence of uncontrolled hypertension in others. Our job is to read each Fullerton patient as an individual chart rather than a demographic average, and keep the medication list as short as the evidence allows.
CACVI’s experienced cardiologists are determined to provide each patient with experienced, compassionate care as they work diligently to improve your health.
