Cardiology care for La Mirada and the LA/OC border communities
If your primary care doctor near Imperial Highway mentioned that your stress test wasn’t quite clean, if you’ve had chest tightness driving back from work on the 5, or if a recent ER visit at PIH or Coast Plaza ended with “you need to see a cardiologist” — our Beverly Hills office is the closest CACVI location, about 35 minutes north on the 5.
La Mirada is a working-family town — multigenerational households, a strong mix of Latino, Korean, and white residents, and a primary-care landscape anchored by PIH Health and a handful of private internists. The patients we see from La Mirada tend to arrive with a referral and a question their internist already raised. Dr. Mehran J. Khorsandi and Dr. Moinakhtar Lala have more than thirty years of combined cardiac and vascular practice and over 15,000 procedures behind them. You see one doctor for the whole visit, the imaging is read in the room, and the plan goes back to your La Mirada primary care office that day.
Find out the cause of your heart condition.
Most La Mirada patients arrive for a small set of reasons: an inconclusive stress test that needs a second look, palpitations that show up while driving the 5 in stop-and-go traffic, or a family history of heart disease combined with new numbness or leg cramping. Our team can perform a cardiac evaluation — exam, EKG, echo, vascular ultrasound — in a single visit at our Beverly Hills office, about 35 minutes from La Mirada via the 5 north. We schedule La Mirada appointments early so you’re back across the LA County line before noon traffic.
La Mirada Cardiac Specialists
Both cardiologists are board-certified, fellowship-trained, and published in the literature their academic colleagues read. For La Mirada patients, the practical difference is the visit itself: one physician in the room, time to walk through what every finding means, and a written summary that ends up in your PIH or private internist’s chart by the time you’re home.
Be prepared.
Coast Plaza Hospital on Beach Boulevard in Norwalk and PIH Health Hospital in Whittier are the closest emergency rooms for most La Mirada residents. Both can manage acute chest pain. Neither has the outpatient cardiology follow-up bandwidth that prevents the next ER visit. If you were discharged from either in the past couple of weeks with a “see cardiology soon” instruction, that’s exactly the situation we hold appointment slots for. Households should also know how to use an AED — survival from sudden cardiac arrest drops about 10% per minute before defibrillation.
The first visit for a La Mirada patient is usually 60 to 90 minutes. We pull your history — family cardiac events, medications, what symptoms show up under what activity — then do a physical exam, EKG, and an echocardiogram if warranted. If you’ve had recent imaging at PIH Whittier, Coast Plaza, or Friendly Hills, bring the disc or sign a release; we work from your existing scans whenever possible. The Beverly Hills office is at 8741 Alden Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90048. From La Mirada, the 5 north to La Brea is the most direct route — about 35 minutes outside the morning rush.
Protect your heart.
Trust Your Heart to Our Expert Care
La Mirada’s adult cardiovascular risk profile reflects its demographic mix: type 2 diabetes prevalence runs above the LA County average, hypertension is common, and the “multigenerational household” pattern means a heart event in one family member often surfaces undiagnosed risk in two or three others. Our La Mirada patients typically end up bringing in a parent or sibling within a year of their first visit, and a single cardiology workup often catches problems early enough that medication, not a procedure, is the answer.
High blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and smoking are key risk factors for heart disease. About half of Americans (47%) have at least one of these three risk factors.
Our goal at CACVI is to help you achieve healthier living. As a stepping stone to healthier living, our physicians perform a variety of tests right here in our office. Our in-office diagnostic procedures can help our physicians and you determine a course of treatment that may help you improve your health and wellness for a better quality of living.
CACVI’s experienced cardiologists are determined to provide each patient with experienced, compassionate care as they work diligently to improve your health.
